These policies set out how payment, screening, cancellation, and safety work across everything we offer. They're written plainly on purpose. The terms specific to any program are confirmed in the agreement you receive before it begins; where they differ, that agreement governs.
The Signal Map
The Signal Map is $750, paid in advance through Square to confirm your ninety-minute session. It is the first piece of the work, not a sales call. You leave with something true whether or not we continue.
- Rescheduling. You may reschedule once with at least 48 hours' notice, at no charge. Inside 48 hours, or for a missed session, the fee is forfeited.
- Refunds. Because it is delivered work, the Signal Map is non-refundable once the session has taken place. If we determine before your session that we're not the right fit and decline to proceed, you receive a full refund.
Screening: we may decline, defer, or slow the work
This is central to how we work, so we state it plainly. Capacity leads, pace follows. We reserve the right to decline an engagement, defer it to a later time, or slow its pace where we judge that to be in your interest. Achievement hunger is treated as a contraindication, not a qualification.
- If we decline before any paid work is delivered, you are not charged, or you are refunded in full.
- If, during an engagement, we recommend slowing or pausing the work, we'll discuss it with you directly and adjust scheduling fairly; this is part of the method, not a failure of it.
Programs: Reclaim, Threshold, and Private Work
These engagements are reserved in advance and depend on a completed Signal Map. Specific fees, deposits, and dates are confirmed in writing before you commit. General terms:
- Deposit. A non-refundable deposit reserves your place and is applied to your fee.
- Balance. The balance is due before the program begins, on the schedule set in your agreement.
- Cancellation by you. Notice periods and any refundable portion are set out in your agreement and reflect the fact that places, especially for one-to-one mountain work booked months ahead, are held exclusively for you.
- Cancellation or rescheduling by us. If we must reschedule (including for weather or safety), we'll offer you a new date or a fair refund of fees paid for work not delivered.
Mountain and outdoor work: safety and risk
Threshold and any in-person mountain days take place in real terrain, which carries inherent and unavoidable risk. By participating you acknowledge and accept this.
- Capacity screening is required and is at our discretion. No prior climbing experience is needed, but readiness is, and we are the judge of it.
- We may stop or change any activity at any time for safety, yours, ours, or the group's. Pacing and turning back are part of the work, never a shortfall.
- You are responsible for disclosing relevant health information honestly and for carrying your own travel and medical insurance. We strongly recommend appropriate cover.
- A separate participation agreement, including an assumption-of-risk and waiver, is signed before any in-person work.
Force majeure
Neither side is liable for failure to perform due to events beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, illness, travel disruption, or acts of authority. In those cases we'll work with you in good faith to reschedule or to refund fees for work not delivered.
