Julia & Jeremy - non-traditional jewish backyard wedding in North Lake Tahoe - aka fancy burlap meets stone cold hottie.
This is when I knew I was going to have the best time ever shooting their Tahoe Vista backyard wedding.
"I'm nervous, but I bet Julia right now is a stone cold hottie" says Jeremy on the day. The name stuck! And she was just that! Looking so beautiful while maintaining the least stressed ever bride status.
"What's the worst photoshoot you have ever done?" was the question Jeremy chose to ask me when I first met them for an engagement shoot. "You mean other than this one with you two?" I took a dive, trusting in my accurate judgement on his sense of humor. He laughed, luckily for me.

Julia's hair looked as if she just got done running through the meadow while wildflowers fell on her head, her simple gorgeous dress showcased her boots and had pockets! She looked like tinker bell!
Pockets came in handy as Jeremy and Julia had two sets of vows. Ones were private - where they said to each other whatever they wanted! There were tears and laughs and kisses.
When time came, Jeremy, dressed in what he called "fancy burlap suit" was escorted to the chuppah, followed by Julia and her parents. Now was the time for the other "public" vows.
The evening was full of laughter, great food, misty-eyed toasts and fancy dance moves.
Nothing makes the party happen more than a live band and King Dream was an absolute highlight. The band injected the crowd with energy and the dance floor was instantly full! Everybody danced, even Whiskey the dog and the wedding photographer!

Peaceful & Remote Yosemite National Park Wedding! aka Ysbrand, my beloved Husbrand!
Directions for the wedding read as follows: Drive forever through the sun scorched hills. Set up your tent in the group site. Don't forget to bring climbing gear for the day after.

I was on the fence about this wedding due to schedules and its remote location, but once Jessica and Ysbrand told me their story I could no longer resist. They grabbed my heart instantly by confessing that they met at the Mobile gas station and were both into rock climbing and buying groceries in bulk. They were my peeps.
Sure enough - as I walked in the bride and her bridesmaids were putting together all the farmer’s market flowers. 🌸 🌹 💐 - a beautiful local and seasonal display. Some guests had to take naps to rejuvenate after their full rock climbing day only to give it their most energetic wedding party.
Photo booth by snap yourself rocked.
Lillaskog Lodge turned out to be a real gem, worth all the driving. What a cute and funky place.

Homewood Ski Resort Wedding aka follow me to the edge of the earth!
Key to Cassie's heart? Courage. Not everyone can hang with that one.
"This wedding is just for our friends" she informed me, "we already had our real one, to which we swam a mile in the ocean. No wetsuit, no wedding dress either".

Well then I guess the Homewood Mountain Top ceremony is not a big deal then, even though riding a chairlift left quite a lasting impression on some wedding guests.
As I learned during the evening, swimming a mile to your own wedding is nothing outrageous for Cassie and Chad. There were many other stories of these two living a authentic and courageous life. THE GARDEN GNOME can account for it all!
Cassi and her dad opened the dance floor in style but then.... the groomsmen took it from there. Moonwalks, telemarks, air launching, human pyramids and other expert-only dance cool-moves were implemented to Bon Jovi classics.
Chad said: "We've gotta hold on to what we've got.
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.
We've got each other and that's a lot.
For love we'll give it a shot."
Thanks, Cassi and Chad. You guys were great and it was a pleasure being a part of your night.
First snow... first kiss... the romantic lake tahoe wedding of Laura & Karl
The forecast was horrible. I was nervous if my car will even make it there... or back. The moods were unshaken by the circumstances. The bride, the bridesmaids, the moms, all it high spirits!

The couple really hit the jackpot when the first snow of the season fell in the very beginning of their ceremony. The bride and her father were getting cozy under the umbrella on their way to the altar! Many warm bodies in the tent made the temperatures inside pleasant, even though outside was literally FREEZING.
The lake continued its moody pattern as the guests chatted and laughed. Karl and Laura, unfazed by snow and rain graciously stood in the elements while I took very unique Lake Tahoe wedding photos. It was a moody, whiteout type of photoshoot, with the bride shaking and smiling at the same time. Look closely - can you tell that she is actually freezing?
As the night went on the speeches got funnier and funnier and the dance moves got more radical. There was no shortage of hugs and fun!
Tiffany & Matt and their hilarious Tahoe posse!
The day was amazing. Backyard wedding preparations in full swing. The bridesmaids were so good looking I didn't know where to point my lens. The groom with his army showed up in a old beat up RV with unmistakably in it to win it attitude. The photos turned out outrageous!

The minister was embodied by one of the groomsmen. The passage he read from "Untethered Soul" about open heart had touched me deeply. As I looked around, all the hears were open!
To top it off Tiff, Matt, a secret helper and I snuck out and found a TRAMPOLINE! My dream had come true! I have been waiting for this moment all my life!
As the night went there were tosses, and dance-offs and a great dane to oversee it all!
Loved it guys! Keep on lovin'!

Can Carlos Tango? Kenda & Charlie in Yosemite.
I started this wedding shoot by hiking up 5 miles to Glacier Point lookout. This is my kind of crowd! Charlie stood over the void staring at half dome. My little helper made it possible to get a good shot of everyone by saying "Cheeze". Over and over and over.

The groomsmen acting as "secret service" in the boulders made the passerby tourists walk in a opposite direction. (Carlos can be serious too).
During the first look, when I suggested for him to spin the bride to be, he really did it. Kenda's body flew parallel to the ground for 5, 10 then 20 rounds. When I got them to stop, both bride and groom needed to be held up so that they don't fall on the ground from the viscous head-spin.
We ended up in the river, knee deep. Shoutout to Toms Shoes - what a beautiful and practical choice for a outdoor wedding! And they help improve lives all around the world!
The wishes came in various forms, but the song was the highlight. "Just call on me, I'll come running like a coyote" sung by Charlie's sister and his little adorable niece - made all eyes in the audience teary.
All ended with quite a display of dance moves by Kenda's father and the 95 year old family member.
Oh, and the answer is: Carlos CAN Tango!!!
